Yamaha PM1000 module OR Chandler Germanium?

I need a good sounding mic preamp mainly for vocals and I don't have much money. I was considering selling a bunch of stuff on ebay and scrounging up the loot for a Chandler Germanium. Seems great for the money (especially for how versatile it seems). But I've read so much about how great these inexpensive PM1000 modules sound. Close to Neve sound for $150? Seems too good to be true.

32 channel Yamaha PM-1000 console opinions?

I posted this on R.A.P. too but got little response and I kind of have to make a decision quick. So I'm just starting up a tiny studio to do demos, learn, and record my band. I'm using a PC DAW with a Mackie 1604 on which I just fried channels 3 & 4. It would cost about $600 to fix.
