Hi friends! Seems I do need to leave the junior mastering thing and pick some pro gear, however under a limited budget.

What would you guys recommend me as a first entry ?
a better d/a?
compressor?
equalizer?
monitors?

I am soon trading to more accurate monitors and room acoustics.
Monitor Ones is not what a pro mastering facilty would ever use -lol
Are Dynaudio BM6's nice for this?

I just use simple plugs like TC, VW, Q10, PAZ within PT TDM environment.

I have been very interested in the Waves Masters Bundle. It is in my budget. Is it really worth my gurus?

Very funny things happened here recently so as to make me think about digging deeper into mastering.

In fact I had never had the intention to be a mastering engineer, but...

I just wanted to be a rich famous artist!lol(joke)

For the third time a client prefers my junior toy thing over two top brazilian mastering facilities.
Or maybe I was just too lucky.. Heaven Knows...

Due to ethics, I will not put names...

However, some of these mastering facilities were not so ethical with their poor brother down here
:)

AC,

Good to hear you are doing good work for your clients.

Well that's like asking what part of the car is most important the engine or the weels. You need it all!!

Monitors are always a great place to start. Get the ones you can't even afford! Make sure there full range. What do your clients say? Do they ask for a specific piece of gear. That would be a good place to start.

IMHO not good enough. I can't stress enough how important it is to hear what you are doing. the room and monitors are sooooo important. Not only for you but also for your clients. by tweeking your room and using great monitors with a great amp and great cables, you'll be able to get twice as much out of the gear you already own. do not fall into the gear is more important that the operator. if you feel you have great ears, then use them. You need full range quality monitors. When you come to NY, let me know and i'll direct you to a couple of places to listen to some great systems.
