I used an L47 for vocals on a local jingle. It had a nice proximity effect and low mid presence. It also has nice clarity. When I hear it on TV the vocals sit nicely.

I'm also an L-47 owner and big fan of this mic. There's very few things it doesn't sound great on. There has been a lot of mention and discussion about this mic in the past here. I suggest you do a search for "Lawson" on this site for a lot of good info and opinions.

It's my first choice on most voices, great on acoustic, fantastic as a room mic (or as one overhead sometimes), etc...

Got a pair of the L47MPs and love em. The infinite pattern selection provides great versatility. I find that this mic requires a vocalist to use good mic technique for dynamics control, which IMHO is a good thing, but it may be frustrating to some singers.

OK well I guess it's just that nobody I know is using the Lawsons.

I've used the tube multi-pattern one a few times and it works well on certain things and vocalists. While I'd probably buy one I know a few people who hang on RAP that don't like it on vocals.

ive done extensive comparisons with the lawson 251 to several popular lg dia condersers both tube and fet thru several different pres both tube and solid state with out getting into a which one is better argument i can say without hesitation that the lawson is an outstanding buy and holds its own easily against mics costing 2 times the price.
