Loads of s**t...lol! Just kidding of course
Here it goes:
Asus P4B266 Mainboard
Intel P4 1.6a(or higher if you want)
1GB DDR266 PC2100 NON-ECC(512MB is all you need tho) *PC2400 is good as well but more expensive*
Matrox G550 32MB AGP Dual Monitor
PLEXTOR 12x10x32(24x models available as well)
Western Digital 20GB 7200RPM ATA100
SIIG ATA100 RAID Controller Card
(2)Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM ATA100
Floppy Drive of course!
Mainboard has USB 2.0 and an Onboard Audio Card as well.
Power supply is a 300Watt Enermax...300 is the minimum required but recommended to be from 350-400watts.
I plan on upgrading to the 350Watt size but may end up building a new machine
Case is a 4RU Rackmountable case. Any case can be used, personal choice at this point in the design.
Here's a link to a shopping cart list from Mwave.com that I was working on!

As seen on Jeopardy ...
Q - What do you call the floppy drive in an ANUS?
A - What is a "sphincter"?
OPUS ... one of your clients just called ... he wants your ANUS back!
If you're having severe problems with one of Opus' puters, would you say that it's a "pain in the ANUS"?
... And what if you can't get it fixed on your own, and you have to bring it in to the shop? Do you ask the guy to please fix your ANUS?
Sorry, I'm just full of shit tonight and I'm being an anus!

2-3 months ago i discovered this forum (after looking for what seemed like forever). i began to watch and read the forum everyday.
i can't begin to explain how helpful, insightful and educating it has been. i wish i had found it two pc's ago :) . yes, soon i too will be among all the rest
the ANUS's here on this forum. once i have completed the build and have it up and running to what i am sure will be my satisfaction
i'm going to bend over and kiss my ANUS :D . here is my part list to date. i included prices just as a point of reference.
i would appreciate any feedback on my choices. in particular the memory and HDD's. i'm still looking into the case(trying to find something local to save on shipping), the raid thing

Here's a bit of advice: buy all the parts either from newegg or googlegear, don't split up the parts list between the two or you'll pay a lot more shipping. Add up the totals from all-newegg, all-googlegear, and mix-of-both. Be sure to include shipping fees. You'll see what I mean.

I just want to echo Dan Barclay's post and say thanks to Opus
for his advice and for revealing his ANUS to the world. And that
goes for everyone who shared their knowledge here.
I don't know if an Australian ANUS exists but this is what it
looks like on paper:
Asus P4B266 Mainboard (SE)
Intel P4 1.6a "Northwood" 512k level cache
256mb PC2100 Kingston DDRAM
32MB AGP video card (TNT2)
2 x Maxtor 20GB 7200RPM ATA133
USB in front ATX case in black/charcoal
350W power supply
The CD burner is omitted at the moment because i'm keen
to buy wisely. Plextors are too expensive here...US$200!!
And as you can see, no soundcard yet...tough one that!
Hey thanks for the insides of the ANUS!
