so that gold thing goes into the input and then that output is that little cord thing, which goes into my comp. you cant see it, but 48v phantom power button is on. i was recording in cool edit pro, and all i got was static, the more gain, the more static.
the thin wire is for power supply. both gains were about in middle.

i think the preamp doesnt work, so I'm fixing to return it unless someone changes my mind.

thanks

Yeah, that's the cable...but just get a Hosa cable or something for now. They're cheap and fidelity will not be a problem. Also make sure that the cable going into the computer (stock soundcard?) is going into a line input, not a mic input... you don't want to blow anything up (exaggerating).

Nice little keyboard, BTW... my old roomate used to jam out on one like that all the time.

This is what you are using, correct?

The thing is, a mic input is designed to accept a mic level source, whereas a line input (which every sound card should have) is designed to accept a line level source, which is much louder. The signal going into your preamp from your mic is at mic level and the signal coming out of your preamp has been amplified significantly to line level. Dig?

Also, please tell me what kind of sound card you are using so we can avoid any possible confusion in the near future. On a typical consumer-level soundcard, the line input should be the same size (except stereo) as the mic input.

Hope this helps...
