Hello,
I am using the digital out on a Behringer Ultragain Pro-8 going into the digital in of a Digidesign digi 002. I am getting a lot of popping noises. Anyone have this problem? I have the Pro-8 set to master 48K sample rate and the digi 002 set at 48K sample rate. It's driving me nuts. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Rokko

As a separate comment, if your recording is going to end up on CD, I would recommend that you use 44.1KHz as the sampling rate for recording. It is certainly possible for mastering houses to perform sample rate conversion from 48 to 44.1, but in my experience you get better results by recording at 44.1 and avoiding the rate conversion.

You need to find a way to have one be the slave of the other.
If PT is set to Internal then see if there's some way to set the other to external clock, or slave, etc.
I'm not totally familiar with these 2 devices.
Is there both a SPDIF (phone jack) as well as the ADAT light pipe on the 002 or just the ADAT light pipe?
On the Pro-8 is the light pipe supposed to transfer 8 tracks?
Sometimes these optical connectors only transfer 2 tracks at a time, in which case the 002 will not see the optical input as being a true adat lightpipe, which could explain the 'not valid' response.
hope this helps a little.

Well, I went home for lunch and tried again and everything worked fine. I changed the clock source in PT to ADAT and I did not get the error. Imagine that. I reconnected the light pipe, maybe that was the problem. What confuses me is I did that last night as well and it did not work. Oh well, I'll be sure not to touch it now that it works.
Thanks for all the replies.
