hello everyone,
I just upgraded to a MOTU 24io with the pci 424, software is SX3. I was using a Tascam us428 and what I would like to do is use my 428 for my control surface until I can afford something else. The issue is in my device selection I can choose one or the other not both. Has anyone ever tried running two ASIO devices?

You should be able to use it as a control surface, you just won't be using it as an audio interface along with the MOTU. Which, it's a shame that Steinberg didn't allow for selecting multiple audio drivers.
However, there should be a template (at least there is in Nuendo) for the US-428 under Device Setup > Add/Remove, for setting it up as a MIDI control device.
I don't have one, so I'm no good on any specifics. It should be covered in the manual and/or help files.
yeah I did find that function add/remove midi device but us 428
yeah I did find that function add/remove midi device but us 428 is not listed so I will have to do a little reasearch and experiment. The us428 came with "cubasis" so the might have some ware on it. BTW nice Icon crankz1 I am working on something similar for a logo for my studio.

I think it should be possible.
try doing this:
click start -> Programs -> Steinberg Cubase SX -> Asio (DirectX or Multimedia) Setup -> (in the advanced options, if it doesn't open up right away) put X's in all the inputs and outputs you wan't to use, and "ok" your way out of it.
Than start Cubase, go to Devices -> Device Setup -> VST Multitrack -> in ASIO Driver, select either ASIO DirectX or Multimedia, depending of witch you configured.
I haven't got two soundcards in the computer i'm currently using, so i can't confirm this will work. So it would be nice if you'd let us know :D
It could just perhaps be possible doing a few hoops. I will bet
It could just perhaps be possible doing a few hoops. I will bet very much on it though, actually nothing at all as far as the odds goes.
If you manage to do it, remember to synch the word-clocks in the two units to avoid drops and clicks. There are probably many ways to do this.

I did try it yesterday and I could only X one or the other not both. I did not try...

I also thought about the clocking issue. I am not sure if you can clock internally(PC) from one to another soundcard?
If both units work it will be nice to have the xtra ins + outs especially the stereo main out. This is my first motu and the 24io is a joy. Having fun routing in and out.
To the best of my knowledge, Cubase will only operate with a sin
To the best of my knowledge, Cubase will only operate with a single ASIO driver.
