Alright everyone. I got a pretty awesome job about 3 months ago and I just got some decent cash saved up. right now I want to purchase this and I would like everyones opinion on it. http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Digidesign-Pro-Tools-Mbox-Mini-Package?sku=702525
it comes with pro tools LE which I think should be fine for me for a while even though most of my friends use Sonar so I don't know what I'm gonna do. I'm in the process of building a PC computer. I have my heart set on running the Intel i5 quad core processor, but honestly I don't know anything about building computers so If any input on building a PC computer that will be used to record guitar, vocals, bass, and drums through an electronic kit. Any help/input is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! I have no experience what so ever, if you can direct me to other thread or a site to read and learn some that would be great. Oh and by the way I will be recording Hardcore/Metal bands.

I would definatly make sure that I wanted to use protools before I bought an interface that will only be compatible with Pro Tools. I use Sonar and Cubase and have had some experience with Pro Tools in the past. I can't say I would recommend it for a complete Noob, but with a little patience I'm sure you could get the hang of it. The fact that most of your friends use Sonar already is a huge bonus for the simple fact that when you have questions or problems the likelyhood of them having and answere is greater.

I've made my share of mistakes just because I had money and didn't take the time and research enough to really figure out what I needed or wanted.

There are a ton of options out there though. I'm sure you'll find what your looking for.

no
the interface should be useful with other software
Logic and Cubase and others

any doubts
get a shop to show you the Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini in use with other software packages

I use PT LE and PT HD and will probably continue to do so

please note
PT LE will only work with an authorized interface (mostly from Digidesign)
same goes for
PT M powered ( M-audio interfaces)
PT HD (Digidesign interfaces and some NON-Digidesign units)

hope I got that right
