Hi,
I'm in the process of getting a new DAW and wanting to get some advice on what LCD monitor to purchase.
I've only owned CRT monitors in the past and not sure what to look for in a LCD monitor for DAW use. I'm wanting something that's easy on the eyes with crisp text.
What brand, size, and model number LCD monitor do you use or recommend?
I think I'll eventually go with a dual monitor setup and would prefer monitors that have a slI'm bezel for this purpose.
Thanks! JD...

The Newer Dell LCD's also have the slim bezel for cool looking dual monitor setups. I decided on an older, used 20.1" Dell "2000FP" with a few issues for $215. I don't care if the screen has a few "Pressure Spots" for DAW useage (and I saved like $800 by buying used). 1600x1200 - now THAT'S a desktop for ya! :D
I'm a big fan of used gear (it has saved me literally thousands and thousands of dollars), but it can get you into trouble if you don't know what you are getting into...
You can also poke around the "Screaming Deal" websites (Like Dealdatabase.com, etc), and wait for a crazy clearance sale to pop up. Office Depot was selling 19" Benq LCD's for like $169 a few weeks ago, and you also had an additional $20 mail in rebate! I missed that sale (I called like 10 OD's in my area, and they were all sold out :( ), so I bought the Used Dell LCD from eBay instead...
Also, the LCD's with DVI inputs will have incredibly sharp detail opposed to the analog VGA input LCD monitors. The text can be a bit "soft" with VGA on a LCD. You would obvioulsly need a video card with DVI outs to take advantage of DVI's superior clarity...
Hey, David :)

The new Dell widescreens are very nice. They contain the same LCD panel as the new Apple displays. The backlight is different, but I've got two 20.1"ers that I love. You can find them on sale at Dell all the time for around 450ish. Sometimes there are online coupons for around 400 shipped.
Here's an article comparing the Dell and Apple screens:

my vote is for Acer.
i am looking (right now) at some rather expensive Samsung 19" i bought about 18 months ago.
i got one of the Acer 19" in to test (really expecting for the money to be crap, even worse the benq)
to my surprise they were nicer than my samsungs.
(and as a samsung dealer i get Spiffs)
with Acer i do not.
we now have 5-6 of them in the store.
i upgraded everyone in the front of the store to them as they were so affordable.
they now have a 6ms response 19" that is like $375
or the 16ms response like the 6 i have for like $270.
they are also nicer than the Viewsonic i have at home.
