Hello i need to record better... i have my guitar plugged in the back of my pc and the usb mic in the front, i need to switch between the two inputs however if the mic is in it allways chooses that untill i pull out the mic. i need to know how to switch without kepp pulling the mic out and puttuing it back in please...:cool: :cool: :eek::eek: :smile: :smile::smile: :redface::rolleyes::biggrin:(y):cool::cool::cool::cool:

Sell the USB mic to someone who wants to podcast. Get a proper interface with mic and instrument inputs and a real microphone. Connect both the mic and guitar to the interface. Use the DAW's facility for assigning inputs to tracks.

But if you insist on using the USB mic at least tell us what operating system and recording software you're using so people aren't just guessing.

If your serious about getting a good sound I agree with BOULDERSOUND. Even if you do get your setup to function the way you want, you will quickly learn it has limits and will be back at sqaure 1. And you would have wasted a lot of time. Check around for some used interfaces online and get a sm58. Or if you can get up a few hundred bucks you can get a little basic starter system that will come with software from musicians friend.

I tried to fight getting an interface for a long time by using my onboard soundcard, usb mics and different techniques. In the end when I finaly built a good DAW it was more than worth the money.
