Alison Research and Valley People were both Paul C. Buff's companies. He owned one of the first independent studios on the west coast. A guy named Frank Zappa did a lot of work at his studio and ended up helping him design some of the gear :tu: . Probably the best of the frame-racking gear was the Kepex gate. I personally love my Valley People 2-610 compressor/expander. It's a VCA based compressor that has more character than say a DBX 160 XT or an RNC.
Look up Paul C. Buff for more info. David

:) I still have a bank of keypex II,s. As Gaff said 20 years too late, but IMO they were way ahead of their time. Just to look at the design of one card look's like a modern day high end ad/da converter. Lots of OP amps, well built. These devices were also designed for automation. I still find many sound shaping uses for the Keypex II's.

I think your about 20+ years too late as that stuff is all been obsolete for quite a while. It was good stuff in it's day and would likely be considered mid level quality by today's standard.
