Hey everyone - i'm looking into a new studio setup at home, and i'm curious to know you're feelings on how I should tune it up.
The room is in a basement, carpeted floor, wood panel walls, and bare wooden support beams for the ceiling with the 2nd floor plywood showing above (Drop ceiling was removed but can be reinstalled). As a drummer I know that there is very little (if any) resonance in the room as the carpet and walls just eat it up. Is there anything else I should do? Thanks in advance.

Corner fill foam pieces, these alone do wonders for a room's accoustics. Auralex makes these: http://www.auralex.com your best bet would lbe to get one of thier room kits and treat your room to their specs. They even have free room consultation on their site. Check it out!

Thanks, checking out the site now. Heres another question thats probably going to make you laugh, but i'm not sure what to do. Currently my space for the studio setup only amounts to one room. I do not have a separate space for a control room. In the future it might be a possibilty, but not any time soon. The room is also not big enough to split in half. Will this work? or no way?

For soundproofing, pack those joists with insulation and either drywall the ceiling or put the drop back in. After this you can pretty much get a grasp on any standing waves by just walking the room. Corner fills are important when tracking drums in a room.
