SiSoft SANDRA is a great set of tools to measure more or less all aspects of your PC's performance (including CPU and MoBo temps) and it is free. You have to specifically run it to find out the temperature (so it is not a little applet that monitors it all the time) but I think it is pretty accurate.

Anyway, most performance testers at overclocker websites use SANDRA. Just give it a try. I think you will find it useful.

CPU Idle is another one that is dedicated to just that without having to go through a confusing Sandra interface!

Sandra is great for everything but if you want to just do that one aspect CPU Idle would be the way to go

You should be able to download a proprietary program from your motherboard manufacturer's website....in most cases :)

Actually, CPUIdle is not free, it's shareware ($30/30Euro) for the WinXP version. You can test it for 30 days but then you have to register.
