HI,
I have a serious problem. I have to do a music score for a short film (in a very short period of time), and the synchronization of musical elements & video material in this project is VERY critical, but my problem is that, when playing the the score (using gigastudio instruments) & audio & video material from Sonar, the video is totally out of Sync (not playing in realtime, freezing, slowing down... like the machine can't handle it !). But the computer is pretty OK(Athlon XP2000+, 512MB DDR, 2xMaxtor Diamondmax9 7200rpm, M-audio DELTA 1010 for giga) and I have seperate HDD's for Gigastudio & Video, as I know both Giga & Video are very HDD hungry. But when I, for example, start the music from Sonar (also with gigastudio instruments), and play the video from Mediaplayer... the video plays in realtime, only not integrated in sonar. :) When I turn gigastudio ports off, Sonar plays the video well... I have to mention that the problem is present regardless of what codec/number of keyframes, I use for VIDEO. Is there any possible solution to this problem, or do I have to switch to some other MIDI/AUDIO/VIDEO software ? (Nuendo, Cubase SX ?) Please help !

Hi Rick,
No, there are no USB devices connected. The problem is definitely somewhere between Sonar & Giga, and I think it is not a hardware problem at all... (since the video plays well outside of Sonar) The video file is just a preview at 360 x 288, 24 Bits, 25.000 Frames/Sec, 262 KB/Sec, Indeo® video 5... I'm really freaking out, and I know that, as usual, I'll have to wait a few days for each reply from the people at Cakewalk, so If anyone has any idea how to solve it (even if it considers swiching to other software as an only solution, that is - if anyone used some other software for this purpuse, and knows that it works stable & in sync with Giga) please respond !
CHEERS !

HI ppl,
Just want to inform anyone who possibly have had the same problem, that I managed to solve it - by switching from Win98se to WinXP + service pack 1... Generally everything works better in WinXP : dramaticaly less latency (with WDM drivers), better MIDI timing, beter sync, more stable... So if you can switch to it, I advise you to do so ! :) Cheers

:) Hi! Best of luck on your project, all I can ask is there any USB stuff hooked up, like a scanner external drive/burner etc.? Seems like something is polling and hogging some RAM. Perhaps less resolution in your video window would help, sorry these are lame suggestions, I know how frustrating this must be.
