Hi,

My current sound card is Gina 24 and I would like to upgrade it to a pro one which has more INs. and of course, I'd like to retain the headphone feature.

I have narrowed down my choice as follows :

1) M-Audio Firewire 1814
2) Echo Layla 24/96 though I know that 3G was out but I found that ppl saying that 24/96 is a bit better than 3G in terms of sound quality.
3) Emu's 1820 or Emulator X ? I am not pretty sure if Emu-X is a pure soft sampler or a soft sampler + a decent sound card ?

My basic usage is to hook up my hardware MIDI gears to the sound card and recording the music to Sonar/Cubase. ADAT/word clock is not very useful to me. For mic/GT input is good to have but not a-must.

My basic requirements :

1) Latency should be real low
2) Sound sound sound quality
3) Stable and the software mixer should be useful.

Any idea ? I hope to make the final decision on this weekend.

Thanks!

Cowby

Often times one of the firewire ports are for the device it's self to be interfaced to the computer and the second port is to connect another device such as the first one or for somethng such as an external hard disk or other storage media device. Some firewire devices work better with certain firewire port chip sets than others. It is best to check and match the firewire device to the firewire port chipset.
