Picture of our updated mastering studio. My interns and I have been working on this since the beginning of summer. New bass traps, all wiring redone, new setup of the mastering desk and all equipment checked for proper operation and phase. BIG JOB FOR MY INTERNS AND THEY DID PROFESSIONAL LEVEL WORK!!!
I am so proud of them...

Thomas, how’s overall…
Thomas, how’s overall business been and the forecast looking? I suspect you putting all the time in to spruce up your room is a good sign! So exciting.
I was very busy throughout the last few years but I’m now seeing a slowdown coming. People seem pretty happy though.
I’m retiring this year so that will be new for me. Would love to start working on my music. Seeing you go for it is inspiring. Kudos 👍🏼
Overall business has been…
Overall business has been spotty. We continue to get new business and our loyal clients are still bringing us work. The COVID-19 pandemic did not help. We branched out into new areas like audio restoration and transfer work since every recording studio now seems to offer some form of "mastering". A vast majority of them do not have the equipment, the monitoring setup or the expertise to do a good job but they want the additional money. (IMHO most clients would be better served by going to a "real" mastering engineer but almost everyone in audio is hurting). Most times they just strap a limiter/compressor and an equalizer across the 2-Buss and call it "mastering".

Best of luck in your retirement...
Some new plugins and some…
Some new plugins and some new monitoring speakers for listening how things will sound to the average consumer. They cost $89.00 for the pair and they are these https://www.amazon… more info here https://www.erinsau…
The new plugins include:
- 1 SPL PQ
- Metric Halo Sontec EQ
- Eventide Split EQ
- Kirchhoff-EQ
I was able to get them all on sale and each has a unique sound. Very impressed with the new EQ
I also got a Stream Deck controller for using Wavelab and other audio DAWs on my PC. Makes things a lot faster.

Re Eventide Split EQ:
I read the overview of it.
SplitEQ™ is a groundbreaking EQ that offers a fundamentally new approach to corrective and creative audio equalization. It excels at Repairing, Rebalancing, Enhancing, and Widening any musical source or audio signal. SplitEQ is both a surgical tool for fixing particularly nasty problems and a creative tool as it opens up exciting new musical possibilities. More than just an EQ — It’s a new and better tool.
Repairing! Does this include helping isolate someones bad reverberation in a mix.

I have not used it for that. We do a lot of restoration work so I have the RX10 set of software from Izotope and the software from ACON Digital. Both have reverb reducing software as part of the restoration software package which I use.

Yes you can BUT it needs to have a very light touch or it does not sound good,
ACON is the deverberate plugin. https://postperspec…
RX10 is the De-reverb Module https://www.izotope…
Hope this helps!!!

Looks great, Tom!
Big question: how does it sound?
