Are you actually with UMG or are you a sub-distributor under UMG? And are there actually still "record stores" anywhere? I can get "world wide distribution" digitally through iTunes and Amazon easily via Tunecore or Catapult in 24 hours. I can get set up for online CD distribution via Amazon in 24 hours. Unless I'm a major artist then Internet distribution works just fine for me.

If I have a finished product and some marketing money??? Never heard of a record deal that you had to pay for. And does it matter if an artist has a buzz or not? I know of a zillion bands that have a well produced, finished product from a good studio and are maybe willing to spend money but the product (music) just isn't there, no buzz, etc. Until you have a buzz you are just another struggling band that will never really get significant physical store CD distribution -- at least what's left of stores and for how ever long the CD lasts before it becomes completely extinct.
