When people talk about a producer getting "$50,000 plus 10 points", what does that mean? What are points, and how do they work?
Thanks so much!

Hi Program,
Thanks very much for the reply. And, mazel tov on the band deal!
Two more questions, if you don't mind:
1) Is money from points generally awarded pre or post breakeven (for the album financiers)?
2) Is the "price of the album" the actual retail sam-goody price, or the wholesale price from the distributor?
Thanks again.
Best,
Jed
A point is a percentage point of the price of the album. Points
A point is a percentage point of the price of the album. Points are sort of an incentive for a producer to do good work. The better they do, the more the record will sell and the more the producer will make.
I just got finished my first deal with a band and I'm getting 2 points! WooHoo.
