I used the Dynaudio BM15s for mastering quite often. They are a very accurate, clean and truthful monitor. They are probably the ONLY nearfield/midfields that I would ever use for mastering (okay, maybe the MeyerSound HD1s too). Personally I liked the passives better than the actives and they paired well with just about ANY amp (from tube to fet).

Also - the converters in the Waves MAXBCL (L2) are phenomenal. No...beyond phenomenal. They're worth the cost of the box by themselves not to mention the rather nice peak limiter built in.

Yes, the BM15 is the minimum for an entry level in mstering as many reported. However it is bein said they lack dynamics and are kind of smiley (!) sound.
Converters: several people pointed me the LAvry Blue.

Oh heavens no... they aren't smiley (I'm assuming you mean scooped mids).

As for dynamics - paired with a good amp, they have great dynamics. There seems to be no end to the output.

Of course, if you're not sure, you can always go with the Meyersounds.

Dynaudio has just released BM6A mk2 with a slightly better frequency response.
They now also have the BM12A, with a little more output power.

Some dude was saying that the amps in the BM6A Mk2 aren't as happening as the mk1. Looks like they cut the HF amp power in half, but they also cut the price $200. I haven't compared the two, but the mk1 sounds pretty good to me...
would be nice to have a little more low-end extension on the BM6A, but a box this small can only do so much. I would think you might want a good sub with these for mastering.

hum...this is the second time I see somenone mentioning the same thing...

I'm with Reggie on this, the bm6a's for mastering would be pushing the envelope, need more low end extension. I own the bm6a's and like them alot but wouldn't want to master with them. If I need something mastered I send out to one with much more experience and gear than I have.
