Hiya all,
Been reading a lot on this forum but your sage advice would be appreciated on helping me choose a MP of condensers that I can use for 3 purposes - drum OHs in my dead room, my 1928 Grotrian Steinweg Upright Piano in my laminate-wood floored large living room, and acoustic guitar in my dead room.
Some that I have in mind...
Earthworks QTC30
Earthworks TC30K
Groove Tubes GT44
RODE NT5
I know there's a marked difference in price between these...
Could I get away with separately purchased Earthwork mics or is each mic qualitatively individual enough to warrant a MP?
Cheers y'all 8)

Agreed, you don't need "Factory" matched pairs. However, if you're just asking about a matched model of microphones, any of the stated mics will do. FWIW, I'm glad to see you lump the GT 44 in there too. This is a fantastic mic, well worth it's price and then some. It would do quite well on all of the applications you listed and beyond.

IMO you don't need factory matched pairs for these applications.
