Just a preamp? Not an interface? There is also the Blue Tube Series from Presonus it is about $210.00 for the Dual and $130.00 for the single. I've used them they're nice for stuff in that price range. Just so you know $150-$200 is cheap for a preamp LOL. Which ART did you have because some of their midmarket stuff is pretty good, and even the little cheap (Tube MP) one gets some good reviews considering it is only $50.00. If it is new it should have a warranty from ART, send it back.
BTW the Sweetwater link says that M-Audio has those on back order with no known ship date.
Why not just save another 100 up and get a brick? Or just invest
Why not just save another 100 up and get a brick? Or just invest in a nicer interface? I dont know what youre using but if 150 is your budget for a pre I cant imagine your interface is high quality. I better interface would do more for you than a cheap preamp IMHO. I know plenty of people using digi 002s and 003s without hardly using pres, and thanks to nice plug ins, they get pretty good results. Im not saying an interface is all you need at the end of the day, but a cheap pre isnt going to fix a cheap interface.

Unfortunately $100-$150 in the outboard preamp range is 'cheap'.
However, for a max of twice that much you get into some stuff that will actually last you until you really decide to get crazy about this GAS and get on with it.
Used units such as an Aphex 207, Art MPA,Symetrix stuff, are all better in quality of build and sound quality. A Brick might be okay, but I find that your skills need to be honed a bit to really get out of that unit what they intended it to do.

I just dropped you a PM regarding the 107. I just bought one off of Craigslist for $70 USD (!) and it's in mint condition.
To the poster: FWIW, I can vouch for the 107, I now own 2, and I have a bunch (well, more than 10, plus an 8-bus Ramsa with 20 decent pre's) to choose from and compare to. The 107's are not exactly Grace or Neve levels, but they are certainly a step up from what's in most compact mixers.
Like Davedog mentioned, the Brick is a bit twitchy to use in many situations. I have found that the 107 seems to be easier to gain stage, and has some additional features that make it more flexible in multiple mic'ing sources. You can find these on the internet all the tume for less than $100 USD.

Now, let's keep this our little secret so we don't drive up the price... ;-)
Thanks for the tip!
You guys are great!
M-Audio DMP3 I never used one, just read good things about one.
