Hamptone HVTP2 Micpre. It's a kit, but I think you can get them pre built. Sometimes its a nice alternative to my ISA 215s or my API 312s.

Good question.
Im under the assumestion that tubes add warmth,or,are only used for gain stage on a eq?
What exactly,makes a "good eq" a good class A eq?
Should I possible be looking into a solid state?

Ah yeah. That's one of those fancy EQs that turns all the frequencies up or down. :roll:

You might be able to build a stereo Pultec-type EQ for about that much $$. But you will have to do it yourself. And it would not have much in the way of precision. For shelving mainly.

My bad, I didn't catch the EQ part. Just saw Class A and assumed Mic Pre.
Sorry. Coulden't tell you if Hamptone made a tube EQ or not.
