Im looking into getting a bass amp for some personsl recording and playing. Im totally ofr when it comes to amps so thats why Id like to get your advice on what would be the most value for the money on these 4 amps.

After hearing a phil jones doubble four on a funk gig without any other amplifying almost shaking the walls, I don't rule out by speaker size...but then again there is a bit difference in the pricerange there...
I've read about the ashdown and lots of people seem to like it and then again the orange is an orange. They also bass like hell for sutch a little size.
So it's down to the ashdown or orange...anyone here that have any experience with these amps? Or maybe you could point out another forum or something where I could get some tips on witch one to choose?

i'd just get a tech 21 sansamp and go di. you can hear it thru your monitors, and can always re-amp it to move some air. this is the only way your gonna get truly 'pro' bass sounds in your price range.
i've never heard a nice sounding hartke, and the fender rumble is pretty terrible. you may be able to find an ampeg svt pro-3 in your price range or a little above it. it's a hybrid, and sounds pretty good, i've used it for about 2 years. speaker cabs/drivers do make a big difference, definatly not an area to skimp. Gk is nice stuff, usually lots of top end definition.
absolutley love the dbx 163x compressors on bass, instant balls.

Without knowing what kind of music you would be playing, what size venues, how loud the rest of the band is, and how extensive the sound system is, we can only suggest what we like for what we do.
Phil Jones is a genius. His bass stuff is incredible, and it's mind-blowing you can get that much pure low end out of such small drivers. If money were no object that's what I'd buy, but as you say - you pay a premium price for compact lightweight boutique gear that sounds that good.
I was also very impressed by the MarkBass gear I've heard in-person. I know they make some reasonably priced small combos. They still may be above your budget - you might look for a used one.
Hopefully you live somewhere you can go hear what these little amps sound like and find one you like within your budget.
I would have no reservations recommending a GK or SWR.
You could try the small Ampeg BA115. It would surely kick the crap out of a Rumble of any kind.
The Orange Tiny Terror guitar amps are screamers, I'd be open to giving their little bass combos a try.
I have never liked the Hartke, they seem really noisy - and my friends who have them are often in need of repairs.
Personally, I would be very leery about relying on the monitor mix without knowing more about the PA system and/or sound man's capability.
Best of luck!

It would be for my studio to gain the amp sound with a mic on it. At this point I use art tps 2 into presonus firestudio project and some times I run it to my behringer di box and from that out to whatever speaker the bass player has, mic that with a d112 + a sm57 and with the di signal routed through the art tps.
As Ive learned it would be safer to just run di and then reamp yes but this is how I done it up to this point.
