IIRC - Intel's 945-955 Chipsets should be dandy for PCI-E Graphics w/o hampering audio performance. My "Everything" PC is a Intel 930 Dual Core (3.9GHz per core 8-) ) with an Asus P5WD2-Premuim MoBo, and a simple M-Audio Audiophile soundcard, and I have no issues down to the cards minimum latency - but I'm not using much I/O (this is a mixing system, I track on other PC's).

If you eliminate PCI-Express PEG, then you are eliminating pretty much any hopes of a Dual Core system (It is rumored that the good old 865 will support Dual-Cores, but I have not seen any implementations of that yet).

for Intel as stated the 945/955 and i will add the 975.
however when using UADs/Pocos your buffers have to be raised as apposed to not using them.

AMD is still best for low latency.

we have found 1 motherboard that is stellar with AMD and is PCIe.

well at the risk of not sounding right....

ok with the discontinued Nforce 3, issues with Nforce 4, UAD issues with almost everything etc etc
finding a killer mobo for X2 Dual Core that was 100% compatible with everything was a very expensive (both in labor and buying products)
affair.

with some of our competitors taking our R&D in the past and tons of people using our website as a shopping list
we decided not to disclose it.
