I'm looking for info on removing Cubase from a friends laptop and re-installing everything into a new desktop PC he got from Santa.
He has a Lexicon Omega interface...WinXP
He currently has three Cubase programs on this laptop!
Cubase Studio 4 (which he bought full version)
Cubase LE (which came with the Lexicon Omega)
Cubase AI (which came with his Yamaha Motif keyboard)
Now one of the problems I think he was having with the laptop was he had all of those Cubase programs installed on top of each other..
So I'm going to help him clean up everything and get a clean DAW install into this new desktop Dell computer with Win7.
So I had a few questions that maybe someone here will have the answers to...before I go over there and have at it!
1.) Should I install a clean version of Studio 4 "only" and not bother with the other versions? I'm thinking AI and LE are not as full of a version as his Studio 4 is? I think he might want the Lexicon VST reverb that came with the Lexicon Omega and LE. Is it possible to somehow just install the .dll of that plugin and use it within Studio 4 without LE being installed?
2.) He's been using ASIO4all as his driver for the Lexicon Omega. Should I continue to use that or try and download a Lexicon Omega driver for Win7 if one exists?
3.) What do I need to do to transfer his Steinberg elicense from the laptop to the desktop?
4.) Do I need to uninstall or save anything special off the laptop before I start a fresh install of Studio 4 on the desktop?
Having some of these questions answered before I go over there will really save me some heartache...
Thanks,,

I was thinking installing just the Cubase Studio 4 was the thing to do!
Steinberg says you only need to install the latest version of the ellc elicense and then activate it with the key on the new computer, so hopefully all that will work.
So for the Lexicon I should be able to just copy the .dll file from the Lexicon disk to the Steinberg Vst folder on the new computer right?

Yeah that should work just fine. If there are any presets in a folder, you may want to copy those over too.

You should install Cubase 4 only. The Lexicon .dll should go into the VST folder and work without issue. You may have to call or email Steinberg support in order to move the license.
