I am needing to purchase a multicore and was wondering:

If I buy an XLR to RTS jack will it work if I plug the jacks in to the 'Line In/ High Impedence' input of my desk. This, of course, is instead of buying an XLR to XLR which would work. I am asking this question because I have had confusing experiences with this stuff before and wanted anothers opinion, especially whether or not the 'line ins' on the desk are balanced or not.
