I use a 3035 and 4050, the 3035 is good for female vocals and some male vocals, electric guitar amp, horns....I'm sure there are some other uses. It is warmer sounding than the 40 series mics, also handles SPL a little better. The 4050 is transparent and multi pattern. I'd love to have a 2nd one for stereo pairing for strings, piano. I've used it on cello with great results. I tracked acoustic guitar today with it, great!

The 3035 is a strange mic because, to me, it is very mushy sounding - which can be great in the right application. The 4040 is gonna be more up front and clear, so I'd go for that one. The 4033 is another option at about the same price (used) as a 4040, while the 4050 is more costly but also a workhorse that can be used on lots of stuff (and can go omni and figure eight).
