Hi there. Im trying to find the best studio monitors for under £300, but need help deciding which ones. Ive narrowed my choices down to the following:

M audio BX-8
Samson Resolv 80a
Fostex PM 1
KRK RP Rokit 5
Event Tr5

Any ideas one which would be the best, I want a flat monitor for all my mixing and mastering. Thanks in advance

I suggest you try out the Event TR5 and the Yamaha MSP5A.

These two have slightly different feels to them, but they are among the best in the very low end, but they compete well with more expensive gear. You must throw in some 400-600 USD more before you get something substantially "better". Personally I prefer the Yamaha MSP5A and I know people will call me MAD for liking these. ..

Another matter is what your room likes best.

Thanks for your help, I think im leaning towards the event tr5's. Was just wondering what you think of the bass response of these compared to the bx8's, here are the specs:

M audio BX8: 37hz<
Event Tr 5: 53hz< +-3db, ref 500hz

As you can see the M audio seem to have a better response but dont post any +-db information. I realise that I wont get an amazing response with either monitor, but what do you think of both (or any other monitors)?

I second the Tapcos. I was in a music store checking out the Motif and I had to see what speakers the sound was coming from. Tapco.......I looked for the sub and the sales guy said "no sub".

I was surprised at the range of those little "computer speakers."

They are pricey though....

A friend just bought the BX8's for his home studio and thay are killer in his room.
