Hi

I record through a Cakewalk UA-25EX, and record vocals on a Neumann TLM 102. I record onto SONAR LE. Recently, i have been having trouble with my sound when i play the vocal recording back. It sounds 'poppy' and it sounds 'clippy'. I have a 'pop screen'. I have tried turning my output down, and my software volume on the mic, but it makes no difference. I don't know what else i can do, as i'm actually a novice with recording. Does anyone have any suggestions i can try to remove the popping sound? I have attached a print screen, my apologys if you cannot see it properlly.

Thanks.

By the looks of it, turn your INPUpT down. Turning your output knob, or software monitoring fader up or down, is amplifying what is going into your system, which is a clipped, or 'too loud' signal.
sing into your mic, make sure you barely see yellow on your meters. By the time it's done it'll be loud and clear. Gain stages is what you should search for, you'll hear the difference in clarity.
If lowering your input gain doesn't do it, post more. it could be word clocking (doubtful), or just more tracks/plug-insthan your computer can run, or your playback buffer may need to be increased.
