Hi All,

I have just about got my home studio to a stage where I can begin doing some good recording, but am still missing a vital link...mics.

I'm prob. going to get a couple of SM57, but need some help with what other mics will go well, and are not too expensive. (I guess I am aiming at mainly band type recording but also small classical type ensembles as well)

The 1st mic I was looking at getting was the RODE NT1-A. I was going to also purchace an 'ART Tube MP - OPL' preamp to go with it.

What do people think about this equipment?

Would you suggest anything else?

All help greatly appreciated!

Thanks heaps!

thera are so many mics out there that are pretty good for not so much money... we are indeed living in lucky times as it didn't use to be that way. Some recommended recording mics to get in a budget:

Studio projects c1, rode nt1- $200 ea
kel hm1- $99 (get 2 for OH)
sm 57- $89 akg d112 (for kick- $150- $200)
small condensers:
Studio projects c3's - $319 pair (OH, acou guit)
rode nt5's- anywhere from $300-400 pair (OH, acou guit)

if you want a mic step above the rest get a rode nt2A (the new one with the new capsule) Shoud set you back only $350-400)

there are many other good mics to choose from as well-
as far as pres, the brick seems to be the best for the $$$ out there
