I'm using a RODE K2 and Peluso CEMC 6 to record a guitar thru my Sebatron into the TRS in's of the PreSonus Firebox and then into my powerbook.
Here's my issue: Not enough input/recording volume. I've got the output on the Sebatron around 6 in hopes to get more volume, but I barely end up with any reading on the garageband meter, so I have to use a boosting effect in garage band or crank up the wav file with something like Audacity. This seems like a rig job, so I was wondering if anyone uses a Sebatron with a Firebox and is able to get some good volume on the front end. The Firebox comes with this little mixer software, and all channels are cranked to "U", but still no luv.
If I add my Mackie mixer to the chain I can get more volume, but then I introduce noise because that's another pre in the mix.
(btw, the reason I'm using Garabe Band instead of something like Cubase is because I only record like one track, maybe two, so I would imagine I don't need all the bells and whistles of the nicer software.)

Well, I did a very simple noise floor test when I first got my Buzz Audio SSA1.1 pre, which is super clean.
I plugged in a B&K4007, cranked it up full and listened with Beyer DT770pro headphones. All I could hear was a bit of ambient noise..... no hiss..... no hums......
Tried a couple of my cheaper mics (Beyer Opus81, MXL V67M.....) and found out why cheap mics are cheap lol.
Haven't tried that with the Seb, but the rest my my signal chain is quiet, so I know that side of things won't be a problem..... and I wouldn't expect a tube pre to be totally silent.

Hi Dave, How are you getting along with those CEMC6 mics? Are they working out OK for you? I have a matched pair kit coming in this Friday from Soundpure. I will be using them through the Avalon AD2022, so I will let you know how that works out. But, I wanted to know what your impressions were and to, perhaps, boost my moral about the purchase, thanks!
Can you switch the line inputs of the Firebox between -10 and +4
Can you switch the line inputs of the Firebox between -10 and +4 db? If so try playing with that.
If not.... use the Instrument ins on the front... the centre of the "multi-socket" and give it some gain there.
