Hey Richard, i would much prefer the prog rock song vs the plain instrumenal. My own band is a prog rock band so i feel most comfortable with that genre, BUT thats not the only reason why i want prog rock. I really do believe that with vocals and cool progressions we'll have the most fun doing this project rather than just listening to instrumentals. What do the other memeber think?

I'm not offended, it's just not what is real. the purpose of this project is to make the "producer" happy, or at least follow his instructions or hopes. vocal or no vocal, really has nothing to do with it.

I'm actually hoping for some 16.285kHz monitor whine... :)

On next monday, we will have the Producer's point of view and recommendations if there are as well as the song. Personally, I have no preference in term of "music genre". I will take the song from the first producer that will provide the song to me on sunday.

I have no idea of the sr or bitrate and how it sounds. That is the real deal, isn't it? 8-)

Well - I think I've done all the damage I can. Mine's uploaded - 100% DAW work using Adobe Audition and a few third-party plugs. Looking forward to hearing what the pros do with this.

I'll tell you (OT), I sure have been listening to this tune a lot - It reminds me of a cross between Fate's Warning, Rush and Dream Theatre. Me likey lots.

In the context of this thread the general meaning of "STEM" is pretty obvious - but what exactly does it mean - and what is the origin behind the term?

Stems are just submixes of groups of similar elements in a mix. I don't know the origin... I just learned it from the Bob Katz book ;)

That vocal is so sibilent. In some parts it sounds like he's whistling rather than singing. God I hate sibilence!!!!!

Okay, that's my little rant over. I like the song and the musicianship is top notch. There is a lot of Rush and a touch of Yes in there.

Nothing a de-esser at about 6k can't fix ;) I'm getting pretty good results with that aproach.

This is part of the exercise isn't it? Cannot be easy and perfect everytime, just like in the real world.

I am suppose to get some update about the new-mix with vocal up and toms down today. I will keep you informed.
