I'm about to complement my full-range monitoring with a pair of "groth-boxes", something to perform the function of Auratones and NS-10's. I'm not getting Auratones because I simply can't find a pair of them and NS-10's are getting waaay overpriced. So I need something to fine tune my mixes in, something that has the midrange-action of the Auratones.

I've looked at the Triple P Designs Pyramid speaker which is designed to do that. Anyone tried them ? Anyone have any low-budget alternatives that does the job equally well ? After all Auratones are just a simple one-way, closed enclosure design with limited frequency response. I've read about Bob Clearmountain using a pair of powered computer speakers. All tips welcome that will help my mixes travel well.

fostex has a small lo fi powered speaker cheap, they are ok to check that transitor radio feeling (very auratone like) and they come cheap (about 60-70 british pounds if i remember it right), but forgot the model no, thou

i find comp speakers a bit to hyped, the fostex are somehow a bit more neutral (if we can speak neutral at this piont, thou!)
