You know, it's nice that certain ISP companies upgrade and change to newer platforms...BUT...it would also be nice as well if they gave you advanced warning that they were going to be offline for ahile as well!
At home I can check and manage the IT stuff for Apogee. Constant work when you're the IT personell you know. Anyhue, I couldn't access anything as well as ping anything. I though, how wierd!
So off to work I go(which isn't so bad since it's under 1 mile!) and low and behold...two things..
One: All server machines somehow were turned off...must have had a power outtage or something.
Two: DSL router was not actuve in any way!
So I check all the power, boot everything back up. Still nothing.
Call ISP for business support...literally wait over an hour and a half just for them to tell me they are changing their server back bones!

Well it also turned out that we had a brownout and it toasted 5 capacitors on the PSU for the modem! Replced them and that was up and running again!
Thing was that the ISP provider wouldn't come out to us under 72 hours! They're history!
Time to switch to a company that cares!

I really feel for you, Opus. Except for the 7:00AM bit. I get up at 6:00AM to make my way into the Big Apple and I have a 26 mile commute. Still, ISP's should at least post a forwarning on their users email sites, don't you agree?
