I haven't done this with anything other than my Mac's built-in sound out, but I don't see any problems with soloing the VSTi, and recording on a new input channel. Are you feeding the VSTi both in and out of the Makie mixer as well? Is this what you're saying is causing the feedback loop?

Also, I don't know if it's the same with a sound card (as opposed to the Sound Manager), but if you have a choice, choose to record via "external mic" rather than "sound in," since external mic setting will generally mute the channel being recorded onto.

Where do I make changes in the "Sound Manager"????

Yes, the VSTi is going in and out of the Mackie and it is causing feedback.

Sound Manager is a Macintosh thang! It's the multimedia properties on a PC. The only thing is that you really cant use both soundcards at the same time in Cubase the way it was described. I'll research into what you are trying to do Munkee and see what I can come up with
