It took me a hell of time to get used to the "patch control" window, there you can assign some controllers to specific sources. But you also have to set some parameters in the partial(s) you want to modulate - i.e. you need to set an envelope (flat if you don't use it) to the filter with a medium value.

Ctrl Select - 21 (CC#)
TVF (ctrl) - 63 (max)

in perf play page 5:
C. offset - -63
