Hi folks. I am considering adding a analog mix console (Toft ATB24) to my Pro Tools LE rig.
I would like anybody's thoughts on this subject. Subject = I have a couple of premium grade preamps, Avalon 737SP and AD2022. I use these pres to track almost everything. If a analog mixer as described above is used in the final mix dowm then almost everything would go through the presumably lesser qaulity preamps on the Toft mixer and there by empart there character on everything that goes through them.
The Question: Do you think this is a desirable thing to do and why or why not.

Also, you would not be going through the toft pre's on mixdown. You would return your tracks to either line or monitor in jacks wich you could access via a button at the top of the mixer, so no repatching as well.Hope this helps.
Thank you boxcar. Excellent reply! Thanks for the ATB manual. Yes.. going into the ATB input after the preamp into line or monitor. Malcom Toft did a nice job. A To D conversion on the way back would be a crucial point.

in my experience the Toft is a nice console the only problem is the build quality is really really bad. At NAMM '10 the Toft was on display and it was in not quite good shape. the faders felt like crap the meters were sketchy, the knobs were all inconsistent in their feel.

Thank you for your response. I have read some simular comments about these issues. One source said they had corrected most of the issues on there subsequent production run of the consoles.
There doesn't seem to be anyone reselling there console. Evidenced by ebay?
Either they did't sell very many of them or people are keeping them.
What do you think?
