This is one of the best first version you posted.

The guitar on the right side has some buzzing noise sound, maybe something in the cab or in the room when recording.. (a loose tube or something) I hear it more at the beginning of the song. Could also be a too hot recording..

The rest of my thoughts are comming from taste and not rules or guide lines..
I find the song sounding like in the 80's, I guess you went for that sound but I'd prefer leaving it in the past. I prefer upfront vocal and drums with less room reverb.
The snare could have a bit more HF and I wouldn't use any effects that does phasy or chorus sounds on the vocal.
But as I said, these are just about taste.

Luke, well done. The title made me take notice - the first band I played in back in high school was called The Devil's Eye. That was a while ago now.

I like pcrecord's comments about the mix.

One thing that jumped out at me was the tempo of the song. If you want that 70's Black Sabbath era style sound you've done really well. If you're looking to make it more contemporary - 85 bpm is a bit slow for that. 125 bpm and making the guitar rhythms more staccato would be make the song more 'in your face', demanding attention. But that choice is all up to your vision, so please don't take this as a complaint, just an observation about approach to the sound.

Thanks, PC. I'll check into the rhythm guitars, which are DI'd into vst racks. I'll ease back on some of the reverb, which I was hoping to use more as glue, and work on that snare. Thanks for the compliment and constructive criticism.

Yes, I have plenty of songs that have fast tempos, so I wanted to include one that was more sludgy (Black Sabbath, "Working Man" by Rush, etc) thx for your comments.

I think you have done a good job with this mix Luke, there is more headroom in this mix than any mix you have posted here previously.

Definitely not overcooked.

The only thing I'd check is if the bassdrum and bass are not fighting on the same frequecies.. you could gain a bit of definition there.. but it's a very minor thing ;)
