I use a double-mesh filter because I pop hard at a mic. It's just my "way", I guess. There is a little variance between metal vs. nylon when it comes to sound. Find the right one for your voice.
I second the idea of attaching it to a stand! Mic-clip ones are a pain sometimes.

I have a few and like the Royer ps 101 the best because it is steel, works excellent and will last forever. The others choices are nylon which do a great job but can run like a stocking if they get snagged and/or age. What ever you get, I personally like ones that attach the the boom so you can slide them to fit rather than ones that are attached the the mic clip end that don't side. They tend to be more difficult.
