What are the general feeling of audio quality coming out of low/mid priced digital setups. I use a Tascam US-122 and cubasis. I am not very satisfied with output.
Guitars, percussion, vox into 57/58's, RODE K2, Nakamichi condensers, AMPEX tube preamps.
LUXMAN/MacIntosh power into B&W 602 speakers, good cables etc. Extensive conditoning in the room(My name is Ray and I'm an audioholic!)...

I'm looking at CUBASE SE3 - it claims a better audio engine and 24 word length. Do I need a better A/D than the US-122? Where is the point of diminishing returns?
I'm asking for your opinions(how often does that happen?)

How 'bout posting a short clip of your work. My first reaction to your question is that if you can't make good recordings with what you have, spending money on stuff isn't going to make it any better - you need to learn to use what you have. When you've outgrown it you can look for bigger/better toys.

I could be wrong - maybe you already have outgrown it. That's where a sample clip would help.
