What is a good pair of headphones for listening to music ? Price range...up to a 100 bucks or so, cheaper the better, but want a decent pair.
I have a pair of Sennheiser. HD280 I use for recording, but it seems with their flat response they may not be the best suited for when I just want to listen to music on my stereo, by music I mean, commerical CDs, the music on the radio. Am I wrong about the HD280's ? and/or What headphones would you recommand for just listen pleasure ?
Thanks all
Guess I should mention what kind of music I mostly listen to. Blues and Bluegrass/Acoustic type stuff mostly, but some good ol rock classics or pop country on the radio sometime.

I just heard a pair os Grado SR80's yesterday and was quite impressed. They were a bit bass shy, but they were ridiculously clear, bringing out more HF detail then the other headphones I've had lots of experience with, including HD280, MDR7506, or my longtime sidekick, the K240. Even though I'm quite happy with my K240, listening to them made me want a pair.
Eh, I'll probably be over them next week.

Aren't the Sony MDR7506 more for tracking ? I considered them when I got my HD280. And are they a flat response like the HD280 ? I'm not sure that's why I'm asking.
I'm looking for just stereo listening headphones, like at home relaxed on the couch, beer in hand, grooving on some tunes.
I'm thinking my HD280 are designed with a flat response and suited to tracking when I'm doing recording, but not necessarily the best for just be joe-blow on the couch suckin in some tunes. Yes No ? In particular vocals seem to be a bit lifeless and unbalanced in the mix, I attribute that to their flat respones, while good for tracking not so for pleasure listening.
Unfortunately I don't have a good stereo store around here to just go try a bunch out.
I'll look into those Grado, I wasn't aware of them. thanks again

That's what I use them for, and they do a fine job. I don't think their to flat. Sound good to me. I bought them to track with but they ended up beside my couch in the Den........................Oh Well

You won't find Grado at a bigbox. Grado headphones are often criticized for being uncomfortable. Out of the box, that's true - but with some careful reshaping of the head band, I can wear mine for hours on end.
Let me know if you get them - I can tell you how to tweak the head band.
