It's all nice sounding.. but not metal enough I think.. It's sounds hard rock but could have more testosterones...
Maybe it's the keyboards..

The snare sounds too "meh" to me for metal... too "drum-machinish" sounding. On most metal recordings I hear, the snare is slamming; heavily compressed.

The kick is decent for pop/rock, but is lacking the power and metallic upper frequency "click" of most metal songs I hear.
The drums on the whole, sound like they're just kinda laying there, they're missing the "power" that I hear on recordings of the metal style.

But ... take my opinion with a grain of salt... I'm not what you would consider to be a "metal" engineer, like Fricker is... someone who loves that style and swims in those sonic waters on a regular basis. ;)

FWIW, I never really minded the original version of this song. I didn't love it or anything, but I didn't hate it, either, and IMO, there's far worse stuff that came out during that time.

Total Eclipse of the Heart is one that comes to mind from around the same time... I'm still in therapy as a result of the mental damage I incurred the very first time I heard that tender little piece of crap. ;)

It reminds me the first time I heard Stairway to heaven. I was in a teen dance party. It took me about 5 min to get the courage to invite a girl to dance the slow song (so I thought) than the beat changed and I couldn't stay close to her. :unsure: I'm sure I'm still damaged Inside from the deception..
Good chance it was a nice song, so I was able to forgive Zeppelin.
