Yeah man... I've used the Oxford on a HD system, and they sounded great.. it sounds as good as the actual oxford EQ.. I've used it sparingly though because i find myself just using the stuff i like... its basically whatever gets the job done... but the oxford is a great addition.. oh and its also a GML clone...u can call up the GML EQ curve as one of the algorithms..thats pretty cool .. and its a great algorithm...

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I have the pultec EQ, thanks anyway, and yes It´s a cool feature that the Oxford EQ has the GML alg. but I was under the impression that Massenburg had made a new EQ for protools ??

Many of the places I frequent have the Massive Pack, which includes the Sony Oxford (but without the GML option, which costs extra), as well as the Massenburg EQ.

My pretty much worthless opinion is the Massenburg is the most transparent EQ I've ever heard, but the Oxford sounds great in its own way, and is more flexible. You have your choice of number of bands installed, so it is much more DSP efficient.

But you know, all you need to do with almost any plug-in is download a demo and decide for yourself. :h:

I have to admit, I am a fan of the Joe Meek "Meequalizer". Mind you, I only use that if I've recorded the material well and have no big eq fixes. The Joe Meek eq is only three bands: Low, Sweepable mids and high. Thats it. I love it on vocals! It is an RTAS plug-in. The Oxford is fantasic too!

Since this is a thread on the topic of plug ins, it probably belongs in the plug ins forum. So I am going to move it over there.

That being said, I still prefer analog outboard eq’s, comps and reverbs to any plug in I have yet to hear. They just sound better to me ... But I have to admit that I haven't used any of the UAD, TC or any of the higher end plugs yet. Maybe someone will have something available used for sale at some point that I will pick up. I don't like to spend big money on things that will be obsolete in a short time and unfortunately, most digital products fall into this category.

As i mentioned at another thread, what happens if Waves or BombFactory go bankrupt? where do we pick challenge codes to keep running older versions we paid for, etc etc?

I have to say I'm quite a fan of the MetricHalo Channel Strip. It's got plenty of bands to play with and the dynamics are nicely effective.

I have never agreed why do people hate so much Waves Q10. With Q´s up to 100, it is hard to find similar ones handling such a nice tool.
Filterbak is pretty nice also, I have not tested the Sony/GM yet.
TC Eq sat seems it did not do fine among TDM users.

mcdsp is releasing a new version of filterbank with Q's which go down to less than a semi-tone, good by Q10.

missi, you mentioned you have a nice PT HD2. What are your favorite plugs bud? Do you use with an analog/digital console? inside the box?

well I mix in the box. Bouncing doesn't seem to be problematic with HD, which also can be said with the summing bus. Well I want to get a trident but thats $6000 for 8 channels which I don't have that $, besides I'll rather buy new pre's and mics before a board. I'de say I realy like the MCDSPplug-ins AC1 and filterbank gets used consistantly. Filterbanks deffinately my EQ of chioce, though I like to use LinEQ by waves for some critical tracks like vocals just have to do alot of time adjustment, LinEQ is one of the most transparent plugin Eq's available, though I'm still waiting to heare the cambridge. As I was saying once MCDSP releases the new sharper Q's on there fiterbank plugins, I'm probraly nevr going to touch Q and RenEQ ever again. For compression I'm a big fan of the UA TDM plug'ins. LA-2a or my Manley ELOP see's kicks, guitars, basses, and vocals alot, I use the 1176LN alot (kills the BF). I never really got into the MCDSP cmpressorbank though, I always found it hard to get the results I wanted. Sometimes I use RenComp when I want some heavy compression (Its hard to hear it working even when its being slamed.) Whenever I sidechain I use the C1 plug, expecaily with noise gating and rumble gating. RenVerb seems to be my most used reverb, Supertap seems to be my delay of choice. Other than that I don't use to much more unless its called for.

I see. I love Filterbank, Compressor banks, Tc Chorus, Pitch n´t time, Waves de-esser, Q10, MAster X, Vintage Warmer, Outboard reverbs ( SPX 990, MPX1, efx bundled within the 02r/01V), Power Dither.
I have been considering purchasing MAsters Bundle.
Do you think is it worth the $1600?
