Has anyone noticed that the same mics appear in a lot of rock videos. This is quite interesting, as I've seen several videos on MTV that feature those 'spontaneous' recording sessions with U87s for example on tracks that I just happen to know were recorded with different mics. Of course you see a lot of SM58s as well, but I can understand that if people want to get a sort of 'live' look.

I'm just wondering if the big players are following Hollywood by advertising products in this way. Now I know this might not seem the appropriate forum for this discussion, but I think it is very relevant if we are paying extra for to pay for these 'advertisements'. Of course people have to advertise, but I've always been a little uncomfortable with 'product placement'. Just wondering if anyone else has an opinion on this.
