I'm new to the a/d conversion table. I see that the Rosetta clearly has 8 channel capability while the ad16x has 16, although the prices seem all too similar to just be 'another 8 channels for the ad16x'. I'm not sure, other than the 8 channels, what the difference is between the Rosetta800 and the AD16x? They both appear to be A/D converters w/ the great Apogeeword clock technology.
Hi Here's the differences: Rosetta 800 is an 8 channel AD and
Hi
Here's the differences:
Rosetta 800 is an 8 channel AD and DA converter box.
Built in AES DB25 for 8 channels of AES in and out
Built in Optical for 8 Channels of ADAT in and out
Option slot for any X Series Cards- DigiMix/XHD/X Firewire(When it's out)
Word clock in and out
AD-16 X is a 16 channel AD Only.
Built in AES DB25 for 16 channels of AES in and out
Built in Optical for 16 Channels of ADAT in and out
Option slot for any X Series Cards- XHD/X Firewire(When it's out)
Word clock in and out
Now, besides the basic functionality of the boxes the HUGE difference between the is the clock.
The Rosetta 800 has the traditional style Apogee based clock system.
The AD-16 X has the new Big Ben CC776 Technology in it! It's the clock that makes it so much better.
Now this does not make the clock in the Rosetta 800 terrible or average in any way. It is the classic Apogee clock that has been in all the previous boxes(well, slightly improved of course! )
and is very much useable in any situation.
