This may seem terribly simple to some but i need help. I just bought Cubase SE and i need to know how to hook up my guitar so i can record some simple demos. I have a M-audio USB interface but i dont know how to make that the input so that Cubase uses the signal from my USB port instead of my sound card. Help would be very much appreciated.

Start by reading the documentation. There should be a .PDF manual and likely a getting started guide that will walk you through. It isn't as hard or bad as it used to be back in the Cubase VST days. http:// Poke around on their forums.
A few hints...
* Select your audio interface and it's driver in device setup.
* Enable your inputs and outputs in VST connections.
* Enable an audio track for recording
Then press record...
