i have a simple pro tools 6.9 / mbox / powerbook g4 rig with powered krk speakers. randomly today i noticed the right channel was significantly softer than usual. i got a signal, just super soft. one of my TRS outputs (line output 2) was like 70% weaker than my other output. it's not the speakers or the cords, because i tested them all through line output 1 and it worked fine. also, when i just use the headphone output, both the left and right channel's are fine.

is there some kind of balancing issue that may be effecting these TRS line outputs for my monitors? is this a common wear/tear problem? i have had this mbox for about 2 years now.

thanks,
jeff

Create a NEW PT session, add 2 MONO tracks, set track 1 to output 1, set track 2 to put put 2, insert the tone generator plugin on each track. Set them at -14.
Set the input/output knob fully clockwise.
Test one 1/4" cable with a digital ohm meter for proper continuity.
Insert that cable in output one, and measure AC voltage between tip and sleeve, and tip and ring.
Repeat with same cable for output 2.
MAKE SURE THE CABLES ARE NOT IN THE INSERTS. (Bottom row)

Report back with results.

The ohm meter is $12.00 at RatShack.
