I was wanting to know if all soundcards mantain the purity of digital signals fed into them ?

Say I have an entry level 4 I/O recording interface. (I actually have one) which has SPDIF input and output. I purchase a good 2 channel ADDA external converter. Feed the soundcard with this converter and monitor off it too.

Will now, this comparitively cheap card give performance equavilant to a better card, like an RME, being fed with the same SPDIF signal ?
