I am new to recording and just got a digital 4-track machine. I have figured out how to record music to the smart card but now want to transfer the song to my PC where I can then burn a CD or make an MP3. What hardware/software/shareware/freeware might I need to facilitate the transfer of the data to the PC. Also, the manual for the Boss BR5323 4-track indicates that I can back up the smart card to a pc but doesn't say how to do it. Boss's web site is useless. Can anyone help me?

I'm looking into what you need to back up the smart media card to the PC..but for the meantime if you want to bring your mix into the computer you have a couple of choices..one is to get a digital input to your computer..SPDIF..depengind on what sound card you have on your PC..you might allready have a SPDIF connection..some of the sound balasters out there have a SPDIF connection so all you will need is a Coaxial cable..RCA cable basically with a 75ohm resistance..if you do have that set the sound blaster to digital input and record away..
Second is to bring it in via analog..get yourself a Stereo Eighth inch jack to two mono 1/4 inch cables and record the music via analog..
Software...plenty o shareware stuff out there for that purpose..You could download Pro Tools Free and do it that way..use Adaptec's EZ CD Creator to burn it to an audio CD.
Hopefully that helps you out somewhat and I'll get back to you on the backing up of the smart media card
