Hi there,
I'm building a new PC and was wondering if anybody could make any recommendations on a good motherboard/processor combo.
I'm currently running a AMD XP2400 w/512MB RAM.
Using a Delta 66 PCI card and OmniStudio I/O Box.

[="http://www.anandtec…"]Here[/]="http://www.anandtec…"]Here[/] is a good place to get an impression if you want to go AMD.
Budgetwise there is no reason not to go dualcore for a DAW PC, Intel or AMD. Intel's Core2Duo is an impressive performer, but prolly a bit more expensive than AMD's AM2 X2.
Forget SLI or Crossfire boards: too much stuff that has nothing to do with a DAW and a hefty price. I think you'll be looking for a Platinum version of the nForce 500 boards.
The rest is up to features like FW400/800, eSATA, number of SATA ports, number of PCI/PCI-E slots. You decide.
Good luck!

how much money are you willing to spend? for processors, i'd say an [="http://www.amd.com/…"]AMD Athlon 64 X2[/]="http://www.amd.com/…"]AMD Athlon 64 X2[/], which i think is the newer version of what you have... depending on money, you pick a model that you can afford, but they are 64 bit dual core processors. i have a AMD Athlon 64 3500+, which is a single core verson, and im happy with it.
otherwise intel pent. 4 or some of the higher pentium D's (like the 900 series.)
and for motherboards, look for one that works with the processor obviously, but i don't have any specific recommendations. just make sure they look good (feature wise). I'd look for 4 memory slots (so you can upgrade), a few PCI and maybe one or two PCIe slots, and a good video card if you don't plan on buying a seperate one. asus are good motherboards though.
